Jaminis Cow Tea Set (Set of 6)
Jamini Roy looked to the folk art of his native Bengal, to Kalighat painting and village scroll traditions, to forge a modern visual language built on bold outlines, flat planes of colour and the rhythm of a single sure stroke. The cow was a recurring subject for him, drawn around 1930 in tempera on board, its form pared back to clean curves and warm earthen tones. There is a calm, almost devotional stillness to the animal, a reminder of the place the cow holds in everyday Indian life.
This set of six fine bone china cups and saucers brings that gentle figure to the tea table, pairing folk modernism with the quiet pleasure of a shared pot of tea.
